Free terrestrial TV has been losing its popularity as more audiences are being drawn towards online entertainment. After its application for domestic free television program service license was rejected, HKTV decided to change their focus to provide high quality online entertainment to the Hong Kong community. Determined, HKTV re-engineered its business model to create HKTV Mall, a one-stop TV entertainment and shopping online platform.

 

HKTV needed reliable technology partner and teamed up with our engineers at TFI. Together, we embarked on a mission to create Hong Kong's top online entertainment platform. Our HERMES OTT Video Solution's intuitive Content Management System (CMS), advertising bidding system and big data analytics system allowed HKTV to effectively offer, manage and monetize their high quality video content. From original shows to live TV, HKTV continues to provide top quality programming to their audience. And with the help of our HERMES advanced encoding and streaming technologies, HKTV can reach out to audiences through 16 different device platforms, including untraditional channels such as Xbox One™ and PlayStation® 4.

 

On Oct 2014, HKTV successfully launched its first-in-market OTT TV service in Hong Kong and accumulated over 2 million app downloads in just 9 months.
